The Odyssey Scholarship is part of the Aeolian i + D Creation Spaces project together with the Teatre Eòlia and with the collaboration of Barcelona City Council through the Barcelona Institute of Culture. Its main objective is to support emerging companies in the country for the creation, dissemination and exhibition of their new shows.

Thus, the Odysseus Aeolian i + D Scholarship aims to provide a space for rehearsal and experimentation where to try and develop the theatrical languages ​​of these companies. The commitment and will of Aeolian R&D is to consolidate a dynamic and constantly improving space for young performing arts companies.

In this 2020 edition, a theatrical project will be selected which will receive:

  • A production grant of € 4.000

  • A grant at the EXHIBITION of € 1.500

  • Assignment of rehearsal space to the Aeolian Creation R&D Spaces

  • Technical residency in the theater

  • First public presentation of the play at the Teatre Eòlia


Winning work 2020:

"Useless)" of the young company l'Absurda

The company consists of Jordi Casado (director and playwright), Neus Soler i Paula Segura (actresses), the three graduates of theEòlia ESAD.

Apart from that, they also form the project Aina Juanet (production) i Carlota Masvidal (scenography). "In (Useful)", according to the company, wants to be a reflection on the need for belief. The usefulness of stories in the face of a system that for many years has discredited them but at the same time has exploited them for their benefit. A show that returns to myths and stories their power to face panic (even for a while!) And then leave them in the storage room again, until we need them again.
