*This subject corresponds to COMPREHENSIVE SINGING TECHNIQUE 2 from the Optional Song and Musical Block of the Free Degree.
The aim of this course is to provide tools to approach technically the different genres of musical theater history.
We'll go through the earliest era of the musical, with composers like Porter and Gerswin, and then delve into the golden age, with the great classics of Rodgers & Hammerstein. We will continue with the age of Aquarius and the most rock musicals, we will reach master Sondheim, and we will finish with the musicals of the XNUMXst century where we will find the best known musicals.
We will analyze the appropriate stylistic and technical application for group songs from different musicals, and each participant will also have the opportunity to work on a solo song of the genre that interests them most. Depending on the level of the participants, the work of duets or trios will also be assessed.
There will also be some emphasis on the interpretation of the musical pieces, although to deepen the interpretation of the musical theater characters, it is recommended to take the subject Interpretation of songs, which is taken right after Comprehensive Technique of song 2.
