INTRODUCTION TO THE CINEMA AND TV screenplay

In this course we will combine the theory of the script (creation of a story, characters, structure, expectation, tone and turns) and practice, with the writing of a short film that students develop throughout the course. We will also dedicate a few sessions to review the keys to the most well-known television genres: sitcom, noon series and drama (50 min).

MERCÈ SARRIAS:  He holds a degree in Information Sciences, specializing in Journalism, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1989). He has been part of the script team of Merlí (2013) Infidels (2010), The heart of the city (2009) and Bristle Misery (2002-2005), among others. In theater, it was in the T6 project by contemporary authors of the TNC, it premiered In defense of albumen mosquitoes.

INVENTION OF THE ARGUMENT 

with Pablo Ley

The student will be asked for all kinds of scenic approaches from commissions that imply the need to invent whole stories or solve situations that are related to finding results and concrete effects. The student will have to invent arguments that can range from experimental proposals to the most strikingly commercial, from ideas for small spaces to ideas for multipurpose spaces, comedy, farce, drama, tragedy, children's or culture public medium-high, for generous or mined budgets.

The methodology that will be applied will be focused on developing the work of the solo playwright and facing what is called the blank page and the urgency of filling it.

PABLO LAW: He has a degree in Art History from the University of Barcelona and is Head of the Stage Direction and Dramaturgy Department at Eòlia ESAD. He combines teaching with his work as a playwright. He was a theater critic for the newspaper ABC Catalunya between 1990 and 1992. He has performed plays and creative works since 1984. His dramaturgy of the play 2666, from the work of Roberto Bolaño and directed by Alex Rigola (Teatre Lliure 2007), he won the Prize of the Theatrical Critic of Barcelona (2008). He is currently doing the drama and direction of Lost memory, a play to be premiered at the Eòlia Theater in the month of March of 2019.
