Drama

How f * ckin write

with Daniel J. Meyer

Basic-medium level. Course hours: 15h
Price: € 175 / 160 € students from Eolia

Writing is learned by writing. But… it’s always panicking, or lazy, or we look for different excuses for not doing it and then not teaching it to anyone. Through this intensive, we will talk about basic concepts of dramaturgy, we will write scenes to then destroy them and to reconstruct them later, but above all, we will focus on finding:
-Strategies and methods to sit down to write or unblock us (it's a decision, and a sacrifice - you would always choose something better to do-)
- Different engines to inspire us, and write about what we really want and above all, get rid of the fear of doing so (trap or cheesy songs are also worth it)
And finally, I will try to make it clear to you that writing is not as complicated and solemn as you think, if you are faithful to yourself. So in these two weeks, we will try to write as much as we can.
PS: Bring selected scene, video clip, photo or painting and various songs. Remember to bring your laptop and headphones to listen to music.

Medium-advanced level. Course hours: 30h
Price: € 375 / 355 € students from Eolia

Cantarem, ballarem, però sobretot, posarem especial atenció a la interpretació i a l’estil propi del musical. Farem una audició prèvia per tal d’assignar les escenes i les cançons que haureu de portar apreses. Tenim molta feina a fer i molt poc temps. Així i tot, tindrem temps de remenar, investigar i sacsejar tot el material perquè en el camí de l’aprenentatge l’important és el camí en si mateix i no el destí final.

Basic-medium level. Course hours: 40h

COURSE DEVELOPMENT

For two weeks, we will give students the tools to face the challenge of uniting performance, dance and singing with the aim of making a final performance by friends and family that shows the intense work they have done throughout those days. The experience of the whole team in this field makes this option very interesting for boys and girls who feel a special interest in musical theater.
The course is developed around daily core subjects that help each group to prepare the final sample. Therefore, we will divide the boys and girls into 4 or 5 age groups, and each group will work on a different part and a common theme with the other participants.
The pieces will consist of text work individually and in groups, and an extensive piece of music linked dramatically. As every year, both the text and the songs will be extracted or adapted from the great shows that Dagoll Dagom has premiered throughout his long career in the musical theater of this country. This year, and for the first time, we are committed to working from the pieces and the theme of the original musical La Nit de Sant Joan that the company premiered in 1981, an ideal vehicle to celebrate the summer solstice together. .
Each piece will be distributed among the students of the group, who will have to learn and memorize the dialogues, the lyrics, the music, the choreography and the stage movements with the help of the daily work with each teacher.
At the end of the day we will spend the last time working on the choral themes that will be represented at the end of the show. We will spend the last morning doing general rehearsals facing the final show.

Subjects:
1. Stage Direction with Jofre Borràs
We will work on the montage as a whole and create balanced, coherent and linked scenes. We will try to give a dramaturgy to our theatrical fact and we will observe the scene from the global one.
This subject will serve us both from the concrete point of view of the sketches of each group and from the general point of view of our final sample.
In the subject of direction the teacher will give us an external vision of the work done in the other subjects in order to link it and give it coherence and cohesion.

2. Music and singing with Gerard Ibáñez
We will work from the warming of the voice. We will learn to know our instrument and fix those techniques that allow us to work the songs from the point of view of the music starting from our natural voice, understanding it like a main tool for our theatrical expression. We will learn to understand the score and the directions requested by the music director in order to contribute to the group dynamics when performing our song. We will share and learn our musical phrases. We will learn to interpret the songs for our theatrical purpose: to convey a message to the receiving audience. Marta Muñoz is the pianist who will accompany the teacher and students all the time.

3. Interpretation with Paula Vives
We will learn to interpret from the truth in the spoken and sung text. We will work from the songs to find the essence of the character we play from an individual and group point of view. We will look for and work on tools that bring us closer to the search for truth in interpretation. We will work on the songs and the text from an interpretive point of view. We will do improvisations and work on theatrical exercises.
We will spend some time in our sessions analyzing the formal aesthetic aspect of our character and our group. We will talk about costume and characterization and create costume design.

4. Choreography with Bealia Guerra
We will analyze the needs of the scene in the field of music and text. We will learn to warm our body so that we can have it free and ready to become one of the main tools of theatrical expression. We will learn and adapt the choreographies of the songs we will perform. We will learn the stage movements of our piece and we will do it always taking into account our characters and our theatrical purpose. We will introduce costume as an important part of our performance as it affects our physical and stage movements as well as our presence and body posture.

5. Stage pending confirmation *
We will analyze the main elements of the scene we represent and think about how we could translate it into physical objects that accompany our final sample. We will design the scenery or tools we want to build. We will build and create the physical scene through manual work. We will work on everything we need to make by hand for our wardrobe. We will work on the scenographic movements of the final show as part of our group responsibility.

Joint stints:
Final chorus: specific work of a joint topic of all teachers and students for 30 minutes daily.
Rest: 20 minutes daily. Authorized underage students may leave the center with the express permission of the parents included in the registration form, along with permission to leave the center alone at the end of the day.
General rehearsals: in the last days of the course we will bring together subjects and teachers to finalize the details of our final performance. At the beginning of the second week we will do a small photo session for each group * simulating what we would do for our theatrical poster, with the costumes, characterization and corresponding elements, in order to create a hand program of the show of the last day. We will send the images to the families at the end of the course.
