Eolia and the Spanish Committee for Palestine Refugees of the United Nations (UNRWA) they come together to make a project of education, awareness and social theater for the students of the Free Formation of Eolia, based on Human Rights, about the situation of the refugees from Palestine.
UNRWA is the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. A community of 5,9 million people, almost a quarter of the world's refugee population.
For almost seven decades, the Agency has been responsible for guaranteeing access to education, healthcare, humanitarian aid and social services for Palestinian refugees. A population that lives sheltered in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the occupied Palestinian territory (the Gaza Strip and the West Bank), while waiting for a fair and definitive solution to a situation as difficult as it is unjust.
To carry out its work, UNRWA is financed almost entirely by voluntary contributions from UN member states. It is unique within the United Nations system, for two reasons:
- The first, the decades-long commitment to a specific population group.
- The second is the fact that it provides services directly to the Palestinian refugee population. The Agency plans and develops its own projects, in addition to building and maintaining schools, clinics and centers for women and the disabled. Currently, UNRWA has more than a thousand facilities, employing more than 30.000 workers, of whom 99% have refugee status.
