“Physical and vocal freedom for a lively musical theater performance”

I have been professionally dedicated to the field for over 25 years. musical theater. It's one of the most exciting and demanding genres I know: You have to say the lyrics of the song as if it were a monologue, while being musically precise, using the right vocal technique, and letting yourself be moved by the emotion of the character! What a challenge!
I often see in students (and in myself!) that putting all these ingredients into play blocks us, makes us demanding and rigid... and from here it is very difficult for the voice to come out freely; the pleasure is taken away; and the performance can become mental and mechanical.

How can we sing musical theatre repertoire and be alive, playful, spontaneous, authentic… and at the same time precise and with technical ease? I have found it through body work. And this is what I will share with you in this workshop. In this workshop we will predispose the body to a state of calm, confidence, play and curiosity in favor of a free, expressive and authentic voice. From this state we open the door to unpredictable vocal and emotional nuances, which are the seed of technical freedom and stage magic.

We will begin the sessions with practices of body awareness, movement, breathing, and physical unlocking that free our voice... And then we will apply it to musical theater repertoire, discovering the expressive richness that we can extract from the score, the lyrics, our own body and everything that happens in the present moment.
