EÓLIA EMERGING SCENE 2025

CARLA ROVIRA

1918, Yekaterinburg, Russia. In the dark basement of the Ipatiev House, seventy shots put an end to the history of a dynasty. The Romanov family is murdered amidst smoke, screams and horror, on a night that marks a before and an after. It seems that Russia can finally raise its head after decades of oppression. When blood is spilled in that basement, it seems that the revolution has no way back.

But was it necessary to end the royal family? And the girls and the boy? And the loyal service that accompanied them?

The last Romanov dynasty had been surrounded by darkness and silence. It was a dynasty far from the world, marked by secrecy. Meanwhile, Russia lived in poverty and walked towards Revolution.

The death of the Romanovs and everything that it unleashed is a strong point to deal with, for this reason we will look at the smallest cracks of the last tsars of Russia and try to understand what brought them to their end. In the same way, we will delve into the minds of those revolutionaries who, tired of injustices and armed with the will to change destiny, made an irreversible decision.

Did all the Romanovs have to die? What would have happened if any of them had survived? What kind of Russia would we have today if that boy, little Alexei, had lived to claim what was rightfully his? Was it an act of justice? Or an act of desperation?

The answer, written in blood, continues to resonate in that basement...
