GENERAL INFORMATION

ATTENDANCE AND COURSE CONDITIONS

The master's classes are face-to-face. Students must attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours.If this percentage is not reached, additional absences will have to be justified according to the criteria established by the centers.

Students will also have the opportunity to request the temporary suspension of studies within the calendar established by the centers, with the option of resuming classes and finishing the master's degree the following academic year.

If Master's Final Project (TFM) is not completed within the corresponding course, the master's degree will be considered as Not PresentedIn this case, it will be necessary re-enroll the following academic year, in accordance with the conditions established by the centers, to be able to present the TFM and obtain the official qualification.

LANGUAGES OF INSTRUCTION

The master's degree will be taught in Catalan and Spanish. However this, it is recommended good knowledge of English, since a significant percentage of the reference bibliography, as well as certain practical examples in various subjects, will be based on materials and models in English.

OFFER OF PLACES AND ORGANIZATION OF GROUPS

It is considered that an initial offer of 8 places, expandable to 10, allows for an adequate distribution of students into working groups, taking into account gender diversity to guarantee equal opportunities and promote balanced collaboration between women and men in all creative processes. This configuration facilitates achieving the final practical objective of the master's degree.: the design and production of a musical play at the end of the course, promoting an inclusive environment where all artistic voices have presence and visibility.

Based on the initial experience with these small groups, it is possible to progressively increase the number of places available, allowing work with larger groups and/or several simultaneous groups, ensuring that participation is balanced and that work dynamics promote gender equality, while maintaining the quality of practical learning and direct interaction between students and teachers.

PROFESSIONAL FIELD AND MASTER'S DEGREE OUTCOMES

The The professional activity of the lyricist, librettist and composer of musical theatre is not regulated in Spain.For this reason, the The Master's Degree in Musical Theatre Creation does not qualify for professional practice according to any official regulations..

However, this master's degree constitutes a pioneering initiative in the field of musical theater, approaching all aspects of creation up to presentation to a producer. Therefore, it is a professional enabler of the specialty, since it provides the necessary tools for the creation and presentation of a complete libretto for a musical play, which is specified in the Master's Final Project (TFM).

THE MASTER'S THESIS AS A RESEARCH SYNTHESIS

El Master's Final Project (TFM) is thesynthesis space where students apply the research skills acquired, either through a traditional research project or creative-research project.

The TFM allows develop a research question relevant to the field of musical theatre, structure a theoretical framework, justify methodologies, analyze results and expose conclusions that add value to both the academic and the professional context.

This exercise ensures that the Master's degree students are capable of communicate and defend research processes and results, and from transfer them to creation, direction, interpretation or pedagogy environments.
