Two contemporary dancers, both dressed in black, are positioned back to back. The photograph is in black and white. The background is a wall divided horizontally into two stripes: the upper one is white and the lower one is dark gray.

EÓLIA EMERGING SCENE 2025

Death does not oblige us to do anything while we are alive.

Inés J. Borrell presents "Apprentice"in the cycles" Aeolian Emerging Scene.

Why do we force ourselves to approach death in the same way, if we are losing different people and in different ways? In this piece we accompany two versions within the same process and question how we deal with death and forget life.

MATRIZ does not want to accept that endings leave us half-hearted, it is the one that allows itself to be influenced the most by established norms. APRENDIZ holds unanswered questions, it allows itself to experience grief by letting itself be carried away by innocence.

Is it possible to reconcile or recognize these two processes in one person? They face this uncertainty even knowing too little about life. This piece is presented to invite us to activate intuition, and offers us much more than a minute of silence..

Why is it that what we struggle with the most is evidence?

We grow up forgetting that uncertainty was the only reality of our childhood., and just when we convince ourselves that we have learned to control life, death appears.

Through physical theater and our own fragments of text, we want to start talking about endings, we are putting words into the conversation that we didn't have when death first presented itself. We find ourselves observing the moment when you discover that life begins, when you realize that it is finite.

Our society educates us with the need to face death in a single way, but death is the only language we do not know, there is no point in limiting it. Death does not oblige us to anything while we are alive. So let's let go of the guilt and let's improvise. Spend more than a minute of silence, holding unanswered questions.

We are diagnosed with an end, we provide a space to question how we lead our lives and validate any process. We live with established norms, with decisions made, the time has come for the LEARNER to lose his judgment.
